Swapping a Death Knight for a Warlock

August 19th, 2009

Since my last post with my fresh Death Knight, I’ve since been raiding with my guild and ran many 10/25 Naxx / Ulduar and the new Trial of the Crusader. My death knights got some great gear and 1/5 of Conqueror Set and I’m on average pulling 4-5k DPS.

But our core Warlock has had to step down due to new hours at work. So I offered to level up a warlock as we have enough death knights as it is. :P

Lucky for me I still have my RAF links on my 5 boxing accounts and had 27 free gift levels saved up! I tried to instance level during normal hours after work but with blizzards’ “No Available Instance…” I had to take a day off of work.  Really blizzard you have to fix this! It’s near impossible to play any of the classic instances anymore and very difficult to run an outlands instance.

With the day off I took, I was able to instance level from 8-34 in about 5 hours and the last 2 levels I started to get the “No Available Instance” issue. But I did finish it and got my toon to 60 and then the fun started! With the changes to mounts in 3.2, I gave some gold to my new lock, got some gear and bought a normal flying mount!

I then headed into outlands with a flying mount! It did help but it hasn’t affect leveling all that much. If you remember with my Death Knight, I was able to level 60-70 in about 24 hours played. Well I was able to level 60-70 with my lock also in about 24 hours /played! This might be faster as I haven’t leveled a lock in sometime but it does help getting to the quests faster as it’s a straight shot vs. running around stuff.

Now at 70 I was able to upgrade to an Epic Flying Mount and I bought the new Bind on Account Cold Weather Flying upgrade! So once I hit Northrend I was able to fly and this has really made leveling so much faster. I’m averaging about 2 hours a level, I’m only level 72 right now but we’ll see just how much faster 70-80 is with an Epic Flyer and Cold Weather at 70.

I’ll keep you posted!
